Training Time

Here are a few pictures from our training session last evening.
We were focusing on "downs" and "ups" on random surfaces.

Grooming Time

This could be an advertisement for the Furminator brush-check out all the dog hair I got off of Cheri and Lucy today!  The craziest thing is that I just barely groomed them both on Sunday.  Sadly, this is the average amount of hair I brush out of their coat twice a week.  That is one thing that is not my favorite about this breed-they shed a ton!  However, we still love them, furry coat and all :)

Temple Square

Last night Lucy and I went to Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake to see all of the Christmas lights.  While it had rained on and off all day, it was actually pretty nice weather by the time we went.  There were just a few puddles on the ground, no snow, and it was relatively warm for December.  Even though I thought the lights were pretty, I don't think Lucy even noticed them :)  She did, however, enjoy people watching because the place was jammed packed with kids and teenagers running around!

Thanksgiving Weekend

As all good holiday weekends should be, last weekend was a little hectic and family-filled.  And, of course, since Black Friday was part of last weekend, a lot of shopping was thrown into the mix as well!  Here are a few pictures from our escapades.

Warming up at Kohls
Getting comfy in the car
Snoozing between stops

So photogenic at Shopko

Crazy Lucy

Sometimes we  all just enjoy kicking off our "work" clothes and having a little free time to relax and be crazy!  Boy are we glad Thanksgiving Break is here!!

Wednesday Wildness

Lucy has experienced a lot of things this past week.  On Wednesday, the middle school went to Hillcrest High School to watch their annual musical.  This year they performed The Will Rogers Follies.

As luck would have it, my class and I got front row seats-and I mean, the very front row.  Because of this, Lucy actually got to see a lot of the show and had a lot of practice with her stays!  From the very beginning, there were "fun" things for Lucy to see such as rope tricks, huge feathery headresses, real live dogs doing tricks, and so forth.  There was this one particular scene where "cows" came to the very front of the stage and did a little sequence with their rope "tails."  They were banging, slapping, and spinning the ropes just a few feet above Lucy's head.  Of course Lucy thought those tails looked like a lot of fun and wanted to go on stage and join the action.  However, she was good and maintained her down. There were also several parts where the chorus came into the aisles to sing, dance, and further entice Lucy.  Again, she was a good girl and stayed.  About a third of the way through the show, I think her brain went on overload, so she just curled up and napped :)

Relaxing in the dark theater during the intermission.

The other good part about this outing was that she got to practice riding on a school bus.  It has been YEARS since I've been on a school bus and had completely forgotten how crowded, bumpy, and smelly they are!  Lucy has ridden on Trax and the FrontRunner before, but this was a whole new experience.  Despite my own hesitations, she hopped onto that bus and stayed in a down the whole time.

Riding on the big yellow bus (with very limited space!)

Later than night, Lucy and Shaun went to the Salt Lake airport for puppy class.  I wasn't able to make it, but Shaun reported that Lucy had fun, experienced a lot, and wanted to take a flight to Hawaii (okay, maybe that was Shaun, but still...).

Happy Howl-oween!

Happy Halloween!

Lucy and I decided to be examples of peace
(a cat and a dog getting along together!)

There is also a close up of her nifty holiday collar.

Weekend Picts

Life has been a little hectic for us, but here are a few pictures of us hanging out this weekend.

Family Cradle Time
Holding Paws
We were cleaning, looked over at the dogs, and this is what we found.
(I'm not sure why Cheri looks so guilty...)

Lucy's First Day at School

On Friday, Lucy spent her first day at school with me!  Getting her approved through my principal and then my district has been a lengthy, stressful process, but she is finally here!  I am so excited because I have been staying up nights and sweating about this since we filled out the repeat PR application.  I knew that Shaun and I would be moving and getting new jobs, and we totally took a risk in getting Lucy (but how could we pass up getting one of Edna's puppies???) because we didn't know if things would work out or not.  After I got my job, I debated for months about how to best approach my principal.  Needless to say, when I finally got Lucy approved, I was ecstatic.  So, here are a few pictures to commemorate the occasion :)

Hanging out under the desk-just like old times in Logan :)

In the "L" section of the library-"L for Lucy" of course!

Lucy's Dirty Bum

We were at puppy class last night and went outside to practice 'let's go' in the parking lot.  Unfortunately, they had recently done some work on the asphalt, so Lucy's back end got a little black lab coloring :)

Oh Look at that Face!

I'm not sure why random car pictures are so hilarious,
but they just are :)

Saturday Fun

Yesterday we went back to Logan to help out with an event run by Zoomdog Agility.  Lucy had a good time playing on some of the agility equipment, seeing old friends, and making new ones-like Daisy Mae the Pig!

Dock Diving

Whew-this post is terribly behind schedule.  Between still getting settled in and a new job, life has been crazy busy lately.  Last weekend, on Saturday, we went to the Soldier Hollow Classic.  It's a worldwide sheepherding competition in the Heber area.  Sheepherding is cool, but the real reason we went was so that Cheri could try out dock diving.  The weather was pretty iffy for a while there, but it all turned out fine and Lucy and I were able to cheer for Cheri and Shaun.

Below is a video from one of Cheri jumps-excuse the shaky video, a dog walked by and things were a little messy for a minute there.  While she wasn't the best competitor on the block, you can see in the video that she sure had fun!

Lucy's First Swim

Lucy took her first real swim yesterday afternoon and she loved it!  She didn't really know how to fetch the dummy while in the water, but she would just motor around out there until finally we called her back into shore!

West Jordan City Library

Well, this may not be interesting to all of you non-book-obsessed people, but I was pretty excited.  West Jordan just built a brand new public library (it opened a month or two ago).  When you return your books, they have this super cool automated machine that reads the barcodes off of the books, then sorts them into piles to then be reshelved.  You can't see it very well in this picture, but believe me, it's pretty crazy!

If only I had one of these at my school library!

Best of Luck to Waffle

Lucy's older (and wiser and better-behaved...) sister, Waffle, is going in to Professional Training next week.  We want to wish her the best of luck (and also let her know how cool her pink Gentle Leader is!).

Lucy being "good" at Salt Lake puppy class.
(good is quoted because, well, she wasn't really, but she was trying ;))

Waffle and Lucy saying their goodbyes.

Good luck Waffle!!
