"Bed"

Lucy's "bed" has been improving (see her first learning it here).  She still gets up without the "release" occasionally, but that's to be expected at this point.  I just love this command!  It's so convenient when people are over or even when you just don't want the pups under foot.  For example, the other day a glass shattered in the kitchen and there were little shards everywhere.  We were able to tell the dogs "bed" and trust them to stay there while we cleaned everything up so that no little paws got glass slivers.

Memorial Day "Camping"

Shaun, Lucy, Cheri, and I are going on a couple of smaller backpacking trips later this summer.  So, originally our plans for Memorial Day weekend were to go camping and get Lucy used to the experience before the real thing.  Sadly, because of all the rain, we decided to forego the outdoor camping (we're not very hard-core when it comes to camping in downpours!) and "camped" inside instead.  Lucy loved the sleeping bag and decided to commandeer one for herself ;)

Fire Station

Yesterday Lucy and Mariko went on another outing.  This time around, we were lucky enough to go to a Logan City fire station.  Both pups did great!  They checked out all the trucks, stayed in sits or downs as the firetrucks and ambulances went in and out (without sirens-we'll wait until they get older for that part).  They also got a chance to practice a lot of surfaces, meet new people, walk up and down different kinds of stairs, and jump into various vehicles.  As you can see below, one of the best parts was all the great photo opportunities!

It was sheer frenzied-licking-chaos there for about thirty seconds :)

While Lucy was definitely not being appropriate, Bryan was asking for it-look at him leaning into that tongue!  

Lucy at Lunch

Lucy loves her food!  This is a video of her last full-sized lunch.  Starting today, her lunch kibbles will be slowly distributed to her breakfast and dinner meals.

Lucy's First Day at Work

Today was Lucy's first day at work with me.  I decided to just take her in for the afternoon since it was her office induction.  Plus, I currently work at USU, live within walking distance of campus, and traipse home each day for lunch, making it easy for me to grab Lucy before heading back up to work.  Besides the awkward heavy panting under my desk for the first half hour (I thought black Cheri was bad about the heat, but Lucy is a much bigger wuss so far!), nobody could even tell she was there.

Happy Mother's Day to Edna!

Lucy just wanted to give a Happy Mother's Day shout out to her mom, Edna!  

I'm not sure which little squirt is Lucy in this photo (courtesy of Edna's BCs), 

but this is the "L" litter, and they sure were cute at that age!  

Home Depot Outing

Last night Lucy went on an outing to Home Depot with her friend Mariko.  Here are some of the fun shots!  FYI: Lucy is about a week older than Mariko.

The Wind Caves

Yesterday we took the dogs for a hike to the Wind Caves which is a little less than a four mile round trip.  We weren't sure that Lucy would be able to do the whole thing and were prepared to turn back early. But, she was a trooper and easily hiked up the mountain with gusto and even wanted to run down on the way back! Just for fun, we also included a picture of Edna at the top of the same hike :)

10 Week Old Edna

Today I was looking for a file on Shaun's flash drive and ran across this picture of Lucy's mom, Edna.  It's one of my all-time favorites of any dog!  Maybe over the summer I will try to compile some compare/contrast pictures of Edna and Lucy to post!
